FLYING THE FLAG?
Over the course of the last number of days we have witnessed numerous sectarian attacks on the nationalist community in the six counties, these have included places of worship in vulnerable areas such as the Short Strand and at our children’s schools, these attacks are a direct result of Unionist leaders remarks and the heightening of tension in the guise of the flag issue in relation to Belfast city halls council vote, they cannot now try to distance themselves from the disgraceful sectarian attacks that have been inflicted towards the catholic community.
Many of these protests have been facilitated, rather than policed by the RUC/PSNI, once again proving if evidence was needed, that British policing in the six counties remains attached to loyalists/unionism and is unable or unwilling to treat the nationalist community with equality.
We are continually told by the nationalist parties who have entered Stormont that the Orange state has gone? Nothing could be further from the truth as we've seen firsthand in recent days.
The removal of the Union flag from Belfast city hall is no victory for nationalists [it should not be there in the first place] and voting to place it there on certain days of the year is an affront to those who gave their lives for an Irish republic.
If you remove the Union jack today and hoist the tricolour over City hall, unless you set about the organisation of the Socialist Republic your efforts would be in vain. England would still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country - how relevant the brilliant words of James Connolly are. We in the Belfast 32csm see the recent flag issue at Belfast city hall as another step in the Normalization process - to give the impression we have Equality and that by removing the Union flag we have somehow gained something! We remain under British occupation and no amount of cosmetic changes will alter this!
